# X follower checkers in 2026: TwitterAudit alternatives and what each one measures

By Jonah Ease (https://trustaudience.com/about) · Published 4 Oct 2026 · Last checked 4 Oct 2026

As of 4 October 2026, TwitterAudit (now part of Fedica), FollowerAudit, Circleboom, Fedica's follower quality audit, an Apify actor and TrustAudience all still check X followers, and HypeAuditor lists X too. Most score profile fields such as avatars, follow ratios and post counts, and most need an X sign-in. TrustAudience reads recent posts instead, with no sign-in, but only for up to 100 of an account's newest followers.

## How this comparison was made

Every fact below comes from vendor pages read on 4 October 2026. We didn't sign up, sign in or pay anywhere, so this compares what each tool says it does, not results we measured. Prices are in US dollars and change; check before you pay.

What a tool reads matters most:

- **Profile and activity fields:** avatar, bio, account age, follower and following counts, post count, last post date. Cheap for thousands of followers. Good at empty or abandoned accounts; blind to a complete profile that posts junk.
- **Posts:** what followers actually write. Costly per follower, so samples are small, but repetition and reply patterns show up.

## TwitterAudit (now Fedica)

TwitterAudit has run since 2012 and was integrated into Fedica in 2023.[1] It returns one "Twitter Score": real followers as a share of the total. Its page lists the traits it treats as signs of a fake follower: no profile picture, minimal or no tweets, following many accounts with few followers back, and irregular tweeting. The first audit is free. You sign in through X and authorise restricted access so it can read the follower list; once signed in you can audit any public account. Larger audits need a Fedica plan: the page names Audit Basic (up to 200,000 followers a month combined) and Research (up to 2,000,000).[1]

**Right pick when:** you want a single quick percentage and don't mind connecting your X account.

## FollowerAudit

FollowerAudit says it fetches all of an account's followers, up to the plan limit, and flags fake, spam, bot and inactive ones from the follower-to-following ratio, odd names and usernames, suspicious activity and other factors. It also charts followers' last tweet date against account age and compares audits across accounts.[2] Sign-in with X is required. The free plan covers 5,000 followers per audit and 2 audits a day. Basic costs $39.99 a month (25,000 followers per audit), Professional $69.99 (500,000) and Corporate $129.99 (3,000,000), and yearly billing is cheaper.[3]

**Right pick when:** you want a whole-following percentage, free for an account under 5,000 followers or paid for a bigger one.

## Circleboom

Circleboom is an X management suite, not a one-off audit. It sorts your followers into groups that include fake or bot and inactive, lets you remove or block them, and can filter any public account's follower list the same way. Its own articles name the signals: extreme follower-to-following ratios, low tweet counts for the account's age, default profile images, accounts created recently in clusters and long inactivity, and say it doesn't scrape.[4] It describes itself as an X Enterprise Developer.[5] Fake, bot and inactive detection sits in the Pro plan: $31.99 a month, or $23.99 a month billed yearly, for accounts up to 25,000 followers. Larger accounts need higher tiers, and the cheaper Limited plan leaves it out.[5]

**Right pick when:** it's your own account and you want to act on the list, not just score it.

## Fedica's follower quality audit

Fedica's audit score is built mainly from the ratio of real to total followers, adjusted by quality signals that Fedica lists as posts, profile, engagement, followers and their ratios, without saying how posts are weighed. It works on any public X account, and on Bluesky and Mastodon, and updates daily for your own account. It isn't on the free plan.[6] On Fedica's plans page, "Identify fake or low quality followers" for your own followers starts at the Grow plan: $29 a month, or $19 a month billed yearly, for accounts totalling up to 100,000 followers. Running it on other accounts is listed under the Research plan: $129 a month, or $79 a month billed yearly.[7]

**Right pick when:** you manage X alongside Bluesky or Mastodon and want one dashboard for all three.

## Apify: X Fake Follower Auditor

A community-built actor on Apify's marketplace, it samples up to 5,000 of an account's most recent followers and scores each one on a default profile picture, zero tweets, a lopsided follow ratio, an account under 30 or 90 days old, a machine-looking handle, an empty bio, no cover picture and X's automated label. It returns a fake-follower percentage, an A to D grade and per-follower records.[8] No X login is needed, but you need an Apify account. Pricing starts at $100 per 1,000 audit reports, and Apify's free plan caps a run at 25 sampled followers. On 4 October 2026 the listing showed 2 total users and no ratings yet.[8]

**Right pick when:** you're a developer who wants per-follower data in JSON or CSV to analyse yourself.

## HypeAuditor

HypeAuditor is an influencer-marketing platform for brands. Its homepage lists X among five platforms and says it vets influencers on 35+ metrics, including authenticity and overall audience quality.[9] We couldn't confirm which apply to X: its X report page sat behind a bot check we didn't try to pass, and its help article on the Quality Audience metric only discusses Instagram.[10] Pricing goes through a sales demo, with a limited free start.[11]

**Right pick when:** you run multi-platform influencer campaigns and X is a small part of them.

## TrustAudience

TrustAudience (/) reads posts. For any public handle, with no sign-in, it reads up to 10 recent posts or replies from each of up to 100 newest followers. A model labels followers who have posts as Substantive, Mixed, Repetitive promotion or Repeated reply pattern; the app sets Silent (no posts of their own, posts too thin to judge, or private) and Unavailable (suspended or deactivated), and leaves out as Unclear anyone it couldn't read. The Audience score averages the label weights (/methodology). The first 1,000 eligible checks are free, then a fresh check is $1, or $5 buys a 30-day pass of daily refreshes for one handle, with no renewal.

Its weaknesses, plainly:

- **Newest followers only.** The most recent followers, in the order the data provider returns them, not a random draw from the whole following.
- **Up to 100.** FollowerAudit's paid plans read millions; this reads at most 100.
- **An uncalibrated AI judgement.** The labels come from a language model reading posts and haven't been tested against a hand-labelled set. They can't establish human identity or AI authorship, and the score does not verify audience quality.
- **No blue-check data.** It doesn't capture verified status.
- **Public reports, no clean-up.** Every handle check publishes an aggregate report on the public board, though no individual follower is ever shown. There are no tools to remove followers.

**Right pick when:** you want to see what recent followers actually post, including complete-looking accounts that profile checks pass, without connecting X.

## Tools that no longer check X live

- **SparkToro's Fake Followers Audit** stopped after Twitter ended free API access in 2023. Its method, its celebrity numbers and what to use instead are covered in /guides/sparktoro-fake-follower-audit-alternative.
- **Botometer X** is in archival mode: its results were pre-calculated from data collected before 31 May 2023, so it says nothing about anyone who followed since.[12]

## Check it by hand

Test any tool's number before you lean on it:

1. **Run it on an account you know.** If it flags people you know are real, discount what it says about strangers.
2. **Open 20 of the flagged accounts.** Profile-based tools flag new and quiet people too. Decide whether each is empty, abandoned, or just a reader who never posts.
3. **Open 20 of the accounts it passed.** Read their posts and replies. A full profile that posts one link or one reply over and over passes a profile check.
4. **Compare two tools that read different things.** When a profile checker and a post reader roughly agree, trust the result more. When they don't, step 3 usually explains why. Before paying for a sponsored post, do this at minimum; /guides/vet-x-influencer-audience covers the rest.
5. **Record the date and sample size.** A newest-followers sample turns over quickly, so a result from three months ago describes different people.

## Questions

### Is TwitterAudit still working?

Its site was live on 4 October 2026, offering a free first audit after an X sign-in, but its counters read "Audits conducted yesterday: 0" and "Bots detected: 0".[1] That may be a display fault; we didn't sign in to test. FollowerAudit's free tier is the closest like-for-like.

### Is there a free X follower audit that doesn't need a login?

TrustAudience needs no sign-in, and its first 1,000 eligible checks are free, but it reads only up to 100 newest followers. The Apify actor needs no X login but needs an Apify account; its free plan samples 25 followers a run.[8]
